Our Story
Lacuna started with a simple question:
Are we really feeding our pets the way they deserve?
Like many people, we noticed changes in our animals as they aged. Slower movement. Less energy. A quiet sense that something wasn’t right. We began paying closer attention, not to trends or marketing claims, but to what dogs and cats are actually built to eat.
They are carnivores. Their bodies evolved to thrive on nutrients found naturally in meat, organs, and bone, nutrients that are often diluted or lost through heavy processing and fillers.
We chose raw freeze-dried food because it made sense.
The changes weren’t dramatic. Just steadier energy. Easier movement. More interest in life. It felt less like a fix and more like our pets returning to themselves.
That experience became the foundation of Lacuna.
Our founder, Toni Maretti-Wolter, grew up caring for animals on a farm, where responsibility came early and shortcuts weren’t an option. That same care shapes everything we do today.
We don’t believe in fear-based feeding or one perfect diet for every pet. We believe in thoughtful nutrition, real ingredients, and food made with intention.
Lacuna exists to offer something better than the bottom shelf.
